Always Cleaning But Never Clean

My vacuum is dead. Ugh; and I just bought new bags for it. We have a shop vac but its useless on the rugs. I want one of these, but will not be able to afford one anytime soon.

.
In other cleaning news, I am saving to buy this as well.

Ok, thats all about that.

What time is it?

Last night Tony and I stayed up until 2am watching Dexter on Netflix. I haven't stayed up that late in over a year. In fact, I normally can't stay up much later than 10pm. Needless to say, I didn't wake up until almost 11:30am this morning and now my whole day is going to be thrown off.

We got a fair amount of stuff done around the house yesterday.
In the bathroom we put up our temporary shower curtain rod made out of copper pipe (thanks for the suggestion mom). It is not so beautiful, but oh so much more functional than the curtain contraption we had put up at waist level. The small blocks on the ceiling will be painted white when we repaint the ceiling and the things that suspend the pipe will have more copper pipe put over them to cover up the ugliness. I think I need to iron the shower curtain.

(Tony felt the need to pose in this picture I guess)

We also managed to get a new door up in the bathroom. It was a major pain in the ass seeing as our doorway was not perfectly level. Oh well it is up. We finally have a full length mirror up in there as well. I felt so disheveled with out it. I had a few days where I would catch my reflection in the mirrors at work and wonder what the hell was i thinking about certain outfit choices. I should be safe again now. If I get to it, I will stain the door today and I am thinking about redoing the wall in front of the washer and dryer. $20 bucks says I don't get to it.

We also did some stuff in the bedroom and in the sunroom, but I don't have any pictures of that right now so I will post about it another time.

Cutting Board

Twice a week we bring our students to a vocational school. I work in the metalsmithing classroom with the kids. The instructor there is excellent and has been adament from the beginning that I make stuff while I am there. Besides making jewelry in the classroom, we also have access to fine woodworking. This is my latest project. I think it came out great and would love to make more. Now I just need to set up a little jewelry/woodworking/spinning shop in the garage. I couldn't get any great pictures, but these should do.

Snowday!

It's snowing, AGAIN. Just when the snow was really starting to melt.... Yesterday I was able to go for a walk out back to the pond. There was still a bunch of snow on the ground but ice had formed a crust so that I was able to walk on the surface of it. The chicks (i guess they're chickens now) even came out of the coop. I'm leaning towards Roy and Henrietta for these two cause i am a dork and can give my chickens cool names like that if i want to.

It is only noon and I would say we have 8-10 inches on the ground already. I have been trying to keep up with it in the driveway and my arms will fall off if i have to pick up the shovel one more time. Next xmas, I am asking for a snowblower (i'll take a plow truck instead if anyone is feeling generous!). Here are some pictures from today. I love this first picture but it is ruined by the despised satellite dish that I will be tying to my bumper and dragging away this summer.
I finally got a pair of carhartt coveralls. Kids, size large. They came in handy today though.

Hagrid's Haircut

Yesterday was time for Hagrid's haircut. The weather has been a little warmer than normal and his coat was getting pretty long. He has some of the thickest fur I have seen on any Angora. We keep out bunnies cages on the screened in porch off the back of the house. There is plastic covering the screens, but it still stays pretty cold out there in the winter. Because I sure the temps will be dropping again soon, I left his coat a little longer than I normally would after a trim. The cats love the bunnies and always come in to hang out with them when it is shearing time. Hopefully today I will get my female bunny done as well. All of the cutting it took me on Hagrid left a big blister on my middle finger.

Wedding Idea Boards

Ok, here are a few ideas. Tomorrow I will probably be thinking something totally different, but at least I can save my thoughts on these posts and use it as a sounding board.
This would be my rustic/nature theme.

A number of people have ended up on my blog by searching for wedding ideas. I highly recommend checking out Snippet and Ink. Http://snippetandink.blogspot.com/

Big Birds

Just though I would put up a few pics of the chickens to show how big our two chicks have gotten. These two are going to be big birds. We were right in our assumptions of one hen and one rooster. He's not crowing yet, but he is certianly doing other things that boy chickens do. He is a very pretty bird, as long as he doesn't start attacking me like Buffy (our old rooster) used to do.

After about 3 or 4 months of no eggs, two hens have started back up. The problem was that Ambrosia went broody and was then busy raising the chicks and out other two hens went into a hard molt (during which they stop laying). There is a slight possibily that our new hen layed one of these eggs, but I am not sure just yet.

The rooster is the black one with lots of orange on his neck. You can see his comb and waddles which will become more and more pronounced.

Weather man says we are getting into the 40's and 50's this week so I am hoping to clean up the coop a bit once things in there thaw out a bit. I also need to give my angora bunnies haircuts and now would be a good time.

Buried

We got buried by snow over the last week. Two storms dumped close to another 15" on top of what we already had (which was probably almost 2'). If I were to walk in it I would probably be up to my hips. School was delayed for 2 hours on Wednesday which made coming back to work after vacation a litttle easier, but it was still a verrrry long work week. Besdies all of the kids at school being out of their minds and still strung out from vacation I have been working long hours after school. Half of my afternoons have been spent cleaning the vacation home that I help with and the other half has been spent helping an old service accoutn consolidate 2 aquariums into one 125 gallon aquarium. Wednesday and Friday I left the house for work at 6:45am and didnt get home until close to 10pm. I am tired but really need this extra money. Espically since I already spent half of it on Nora's vet bill from this little excursion. Turns out she broke of 2 teeth and they had to be extracted for a pretty little penny. Now for the next 4 days I get for battle with her to give her meds 3 times a day. As if I have time to do that.

That is the picnic table on the left hand side of the picture below.
