So Long Sweet Nora

We lost our sweet little Nora yesterday. She was hit by a car in front of our house. I am trying my hardest not to let myself think about it...but it is hard.

She was such a good cat. She showed up here as a kitten, just a tiny little thing. She was a momma to 5, earning her the more often used name of mommy. She was a happy cat that never really out grew being a kitten. Always playful and very affectionate. She would run around the yard and fly up into the trees. We really will miss her.

The Return of Big

Biggies home. Thank God. I went out calling for her again and got no response. So i went upstairs to look out the back window (spotlights light up the backyard pretty good) and there she was, running towards the house from the pond. I went out onto the screened porch (where they can come in) and could hear her meowing as she ran in to me. Poor Big was shaking and her little butt was all icy, but she is home. I couldn't get a picture because my camera is dead (again), but the pic up top is mone of my favorites of our littlest cat, Biggie.

Biggie Bottoms

Still waiting on Biggie. I don't know how am I going to sleep if she is still out there. This sucks.

Mama Doobie

Well, my eye back to normal for the most part. My doctor gave me some antibiotic/steriod eye drops that cleared up the infection pretty quickly.

Little Mama Doobie (Nora) came home the other night looking like this.
Her chin in all cut up as you can see in the picture but her upper lip was also cut up and swollen. I cleaned her up the best I could (before I took these pictures). I didn't feel it was worthy of a trip to the vet ( and we don't have the money to go to the vet) so we just kept a close eye on her. She was preety lethargic for the first day but after I can her some leftover painkillers that we had (from one of her previous issues I'm sure) as well as some antibiotics (yup had those too) she seems to be feeling much better. We don't know if she got in a fight with another cat or if it is from something else. Whatever it was she isn't very eager to go back outside just yet and when she does she sticks right nearby.

Here are all 3 of our girl kitties. The babies are getting so big, in fact I think they are bigger than their little mama is.

Nora is the grey one on the top right, to her left is biggie, and then monkey is in the front.

Troublemakers!

Nora and Monkey were nothing but trouble outside today. They are both little squirrels, always climbing things. Here is Monkey on the roof of the garage.

Nora scaled the chicken run.

Cat fights

Some one is picking on Bodhi. For a while Bodhi and Thera were attacking Nora, but over the last week Bodhi has wound up with two good scratches on his nose. These fights usually occur at night and I believe this is when those stray cats are hanging around outside the windows stirring up trouble with my little menagerie.
The time is approaching to get the girls fixed. Biggie and Monkey are both showing that they very much want to be outside as much as they can so we can't risk waiting too long, God knows we're paying for that mistake already. Now we just need to come up with about $300 bucks to get it all taken care of. And then in about another month we will have to take care of Cy and Ty. And then Bodhi and Thera are due for their yearly checkups......Ugh.

The Old Nora Returns

Nora had her 1st unsupervised day out yesterday since her surgery. This is what she was prancing around with. She then proceeded to eat its head off. Guess she will be putting weight back on soon.

Adopt Us!!!

Ty, Doobie, Biggie, Cy, and Monkey.

The babies need homes. Our friends backed out of taking Doobie and Ty (which is absolute crap). We are going to keep Monkey and Cy but Doobie, Ty, and Biggie need homes.

Doobie and Ty need a home they can go to together. They sleep and play together all of the time and are not the type of cats that want to be an only child. Doobie is by far the sweetest and smartest cat out of the group. She has an extra thumb on both front feet and talks a lot.

Ty is very playful and can be a bit shy. He loves attention and to be pet, but he very much decides when he will let you. He is all black and has 3 white spots on his belly and chest. (These aren't the best pictures of him, he is quick and blurs most of his photos).

Biggie also has double paws. She is a purring machine and loves to sit on your lap. She is super soft and has one white spot in her chest. Her eyes are very yellow. She is much more independent and acually seems to hang with the adult cats more than the kittens. She often sleeps by herself on the screened in porch.

I know people...

So.. its been a little while since i last posted. sorry. things have been busy here. between renovation projects on the home front, job interviews, doing rich peoples laundry, neutering one cat and getting shots for 5 kittens, picking my nose, and work, i just haven't had the time nor the gusto to post. Not saying I do now either though.
Where to start???
I guess renovations on the home front. Now besides the half painted ceiling that I started last summer, you can add these other unfinished projects to the list.
1)The kitchen area wall is almost all painted, it is partially molded? (however you refer to it having some baseboard and door frame stuff up, there shouldn't be any mold left cause i probably painted over it!), and still need outlet covers.

2)The haneous bathroom wall dutch doorway shit to the washing machine was half ripped down months ago. I finally had enough and found some 1980 folding door crap in our garage and decided it was better than the 2x4's that were currently there. So i installed the door and put up dry wall around it. all that is left now is a little bit of molding (once again not that rotting mold stuff, although i didn't use greenboard so we can expect that in a few months!) In the process of my being toolbelt diva (i hate that show almost as much as i hate all 14 of rachel rays shows) i stepped down off a bucket that i was using as a ladder and right onto the big rusty crowbar, gouging a large chunk out of the bottom of my big toe. An no i didnt have the time or money to go get a tetanus shot and its been a week and there is still no red line running up my leg so i am all good.

3)Our living that was the previous owners bedroom had a big closet in it that just doesnt fit with the living room motiff we are going for. So tony ripped that down. Now we have to patch the missing dry wall area, figure out some fix for where they cut into the logs to put 2x4s and deal with the missing sections of the nasty carpet (aka one giant kitty litter box to the kittens).

Nora had her surgery yesterday and is home today. She is confined to the living and will be a new cat once we start letting her go outside again in a week. She has been miserable. We brought in all 5 babies for their shot and i think my arms may be permanently from the 2 bosy trying to escape the cardboard paper file box we brought them to the vet in. The vet said they are all very healthy and they weights were a testament to that. Poor mama Nora weighed just over 5 pounds and all of the kittens weighed over 3 pounds, with Cy being the biggest.

Catching Up

Sorry about not posting in a while. Between extra work at the school, the trip down to CT, and the mess that is our house, I haven't had much free time. The gardens desperatly need weeding and hopefully will get done tomorrow. All of the Iris' are in bloom now. So far there are 8 different kinds, all blues/purples, and yellows. They are very pretty.

Our 3 girls are still around. Ambrosia is broody again (guess she doesn't realize nothing is going to happen without the rooster around anymore), so she hasn't really come out of the coop much. Jezebel and Whitey free range but they are always on edge now. Here they are hiding out under the quince.

In feline news, Thera is teaching the kittens how to be lazy sloths.

Happy 6 weeks!

The kittens turned 6 weeks in Monday. They are all eating wet food now and most of them are eating dry food too. They use the kitty litter and harass the boys (Bodhi and Thera). If it wasn't for them I think I would be much more down with all that has been going on lately. Here are some recent pictures of the little shits.
