I know people...

So.. its been a little while since i last posted. sorry. things have been busy here. between renovation projects on the home front, job interviews, doing rich peoples laundry, neutering one cat and getting shots for 5 kittens, picking my nose, and work, i just haven't had the time nor the gusto to post. Not saying I do now either though.
Where to start???
I guess renovations on the home front. Now besides the half painted ceiling that I started last summer, you can add these other unfinished projects to the list.
1)The kitchen area wall is almost all painted, it is partially molded? (however you refer to it having some baseboard and door frame stuff up, there shouldn't be any mold left cause i probably painted over it!), and still need outlet covers.

2)The haneous bathroom wall dutch doorway shit to the washing machine was half ripped down months ago. I finally had enough and found some 1980 folding door crap in our garage and decided it was better than the 2x4's that were currently there. So i installed the door and put up dry wall around it. all that is left now is a little bit of molding (once again not that rotting mold stuff, although i didn't use greenboard so we can expect that in a few months!) In the process of my being toolbelt diva (i hate that show almost as much as i hate all 14 of rachel rays shows) i stepped down off a bucket that i was using as a ladder and right onto the big rusty crowbar, gouging a large chunk out of the bottom of my big toe. An no i didnt have the time or money to go get a tetanus shot and its been a week and there is still no red line running up my leg so i am all good.

3)Our living that was the previous owners bedroom had a big closet in it that just doesnt fit with the living room motiff we are going for. So tony ripped that down. Now we have to patch the missing dry wall area, figure out some fix for where they cut into the logs to put 2x4s and deal with the missing sections of the nasty carpet (aka one giant kitty litter box to the kittens).

Nora had her surgery yesterday and is home today. She is confined to the living and will be a new cat once we start letting her go outside again in a week. She has been miserable. We brought in all 5 babies for their shot and i think my arms may be permanently from the 2 bosy trying to escape the cardboard paper file box we brought them to the vet in. The vet said they are all very healthy and they weights were a testament to that. Poor mama Nora weighed just over 5 pounds and all of the kittens weighed over 3 pounds, with Cy being the biggest.

Good Eatin'

First fresh salad from our garden. Butterhead Lettuce, Baby Spinach, and Snow Peas. The carrots were store bought as ours are not ready yet. I promise I will post more soon, it's been a very busy week and today is only going to be more hectic as I have to have my 'meetings' with my service accounts to let them know I am finito.

Bite Me

We've barely been getting any eggs for several weeks now. I figured it was because Ambrosia was broody (they stop laying eggs when they are broody) and thought maybe it was a stress issue causing the other two not to lay (aka-all of their friends are being killed off). Well, I found out otherwise today. Jeze was out behind the coop so when i went to investigate I found she was sitting on some eggs. 20 eggs to be precise. Soo..... we found our missing eggs. I moved them all into the coop in hopes that they will go back to laying in there. Some of the eggs are whiety's. She decided to sit on them once back in the coop and when i went to move them over into a different nest box, she wasn't having it and deicided to bite me. Little bitch.

Tony and I did a bunch of yard work today. Mowed the lawn and back by the pond, planted the tomatoes and basil, did some weeding, and went swimming in the pond. We also went in search of growing media for our upcoming attempt at hydroponics (and no, we're not growing weed) but didn't have any luck finding the right stuff out here. Tony took out his bow and did some target practice, he's hardly shot it at all since we've been here.

Catching Up

Sorry about not posting in a while. Between extra work at the school, the trip down to CT, and the mess that is our house, I haven't had much free time. The gardens desperatly need weeding and hopefully will get done tomorrow. All of the Iris' are in bloom now. So far there are 8 different kinds, all blues/purples, and yellows. They are very pretty.

Our 3 girls are still around. Ambrosia is broody again (guess she doesn't realize nothing is going to happen without the rooster around anymore), so she hasn't really come out of the coop much. Jezebel and Whitey free range but they are always on edge now. Here they are hiding out under the quince.

In feline news, Thera is teaching the kittens how to be lazy sloths.

Progress

I should either be in bed sleeping right now or getting things packed and ready to go to CT in the morning, but I don't feel like doing either.

The walls are progressing. What do you think about the color? Is it scary? It is certainly different than all of the muted colors I have chosen in the past.

Tony found a porcupine in the woods right next to where Pigee's feathers were. I tried to get a picture of it but they all came out crappy. Everything I've read about them says they just eat bark and plants so I don't think he is our chicken slayer.

Pigee is gone.

Pigee was missing two nights ago when we locked everyone in the coop. Surprisingly I find her in the woods the next morning going about her business as usual. I chased her out to be with the other hens. Well last night she didn't come home again.... and this is all I found when I went into the woods to look for her.

It's time to start asking around for traps. I really didn't want to do this but enough is enough.

Here are the 3 different types of columbine we have so far. The salvia is blooming now as well. I haven't had anytime to work in the garden in the last week and won't this weekend either as we are heading down to CT.

Walls and Breathing

Here is a crappy picture of the progress of the walls so far. You can see the new paint color,,,, yes it is orange, pumpkin toast. There would have been more progress on the walls had Tony not started losing the abililty to breathe. After sanding them down he started wheezing, which that in itself isnt so abnormal. The bad part was that it lasted into the next day and started to get worse. I took him to the ER yesterday. He was given a breathing treatment, told he has a virus and bronchial spasms or something along those lines. They sent him home with an inhaler that he has to take every 4 hours for a week and basically said it is something he has to live with.

On another note yesterday morning I was sitting at the computer and look out the window to see a moose in the backyard between the house and the pond. It was the first moose sighting on our property.

Saturday Stuff

Today we ripped the tongue and groove paneling off of the walls in the kitchen area. Next we need to figure out what color we are going to paint it and put up some baseboard and moulding.

Here are some of the flowers that are in bloom at the time. I need to start identifying some of these little wildflowers we have.
